Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of StickyWord (the "App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to them.
Last updated 2026-08-15 · Applies to version 0.1.2 and later
01Scope and operator
The App is provided by StickyWord (an independent developer, the "operator"), reachable at ou.ke.app@gmail.com.
The App is distributed through the App Store and Google Play. Where a store's own terms conflict with these terms, the store's terms prevail to the extent of the conflict.
02Licence to use
Subject to these terms, the operator grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. Copyright and other rights in the App and in its bundled word packs, design and text remain with the operator or the respective rights holders; nothing here transfers them to you.
03Restrictions
- Copying, modifying, decompiling or reverse-engineering the App, except where the law expressly allows it
- Extracting the bundled word-pack data in order to redistribute, sell or publish it
- Modifying the App or store mechanisms in order to bypass payment
- Any use that breaks the law or violates public order and morals
04StickyWord Plus (in-app purchase)
- Type: a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. It is not a subscription and does not auto-renew.
- What it does: it lets you add more than the daily ten new words to the desk, at your own pace. The free version keeps all four word packs, review, saving, reminders and every appearance setting.
- A cap remains: to keep the app responsive, the number of words that can be placed on the desk in one day is still limited after purchase. Unlimited use is not promised.
- Price and payment: the price is whatever the App Store / Google Play displays, tax included, and payment is processed by the store. The operator never receives payment details.
- Restoring: with the same Apple ID / Google account, "Restore purchase" in Settings brings the entitlement back. Purchases cannot be carried between different accounts, or between Apple and Google.
- Refunds: refunds follow each store's own rules and process. The operator cannot issue them directly.
05Your study data and backups
The App has no accounts and stores your study record only on the device. Your record is therefore lost, with no way for the operator to recover it, if:
- you uninstall the App or clear its data; or
- the device is reset, lost, damaged or replaced (unless a full device backup restores it).
A purchased Plus entitlement is held by the store, so it can still be recovered with "Restore purchase".
06About the word packs
Meanings, readings, parts of speech and example sentences are provided for study. Their accuracy and completeness are not guaranteed, nor is their usefulness for any particular exam, including the JLPT. JLPT-level groupings are a rough guide, and the App has no affiliation with the organisations that run the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test.
Updates may add, revise or remove entries. Your study record is preserved wherever possible when they do.
07Notifications
The daily reminder is composed on the device and may be delayed or missed depending on the device's state — battery saving, notification permissions, clock changes and so on. Delivery is not guaranteed.
08Changes, interruption and discontinuation
The operator may change the App or stop offering it, without prior notice. If the App is discontinued, a copy already installed will generally keep working on that device, but further updates — and the continued availability of the external services needed to restore purchases — are not guaranteed.
09Disclaimer and liability
The App is provided "as is". The operator does not warrant that it fits your particular purpose, that it will produce any learning outcome, or that it will run without interruption or error.
Except where liability cannot be excluded by law, the operator is not liable for damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the App. Where liability does apply, it is capped at the amount you have paid for the App.
10Third-party software and fonts
The App bundles subsetted and merged builds of the following fonts, all used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1:
- Zen Kaku Gothic New — © Yoshimichi Ohira
- Kiwi Maru — © Hiroki-Chan
- Noto Sans SC / Noto Serif SC — © The Noto Project Authors
- JetBrains Mono — © JetBrains s.r.o.
The App also uses open-source software including Kotlin Multiplatform, Compose Multiplatform, SQLDelight, the Firebase SDKs and the RevenueCat SDK. Rights in each remain with their respective holders under their own licences.
11Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the App or these terms shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction, in the first instance, of the Japanese court having jurisdiction over the operator's place of residence.
12Changes to these terms
These terms may be revised. A revision takes effect when it is posted on this page, and the "Last updated" date at the top is changed. Continuing to use the App after that counts as acceptance.
